Most restaurant operators say they struggle to attract new customers (79%) and bring back repeat customers (56%), according to the National Restaurant Association. To help restaurants tackle these challenges and grow their business, point-of-sale (POS) company SpotOn has unveiled Marketing Assist, a new solution that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and automation to simplify marketing operations.

In the restaurant world, few businesses have dedicated marketing teams. With managers and operators often left to drive marketing, their efforts fall to the backburner as they prioritize other, more pressing, tasks and challenges. With SpotOn Marketing Assist, users will be able to create social media campaigns, and ensure their efforts tie to email. Based on company benchmarks, restaurants can save between three and fives hours per week using the AI-powered solutions.

“SpotOn Marketing Assist is democratizing AI and automation technology for the independent restaurants who need it the most,” said Bryan Solar, Chief Product Officer at SpotOn in a statement. “Beyond empowering operators to set up automated campaigns, SpotOn is helping to drive repeat business while providing operators with data-driven insights they need to keep the momentum going and drive revenue all year long.”

Simplifying Restaurant Marketing

When they first use SpotOn Marketing Assist, operators will answer a few key questions about their business category, marketing objectives, deal preferences, time-based deals, and brand. Operators can then get started by selecting their marketing objectives to increase online orders, in-person visits, phone calls, reservations, or all of the above. After they upload photos and other brand assets, and connect their Facebook page and Google Business profile, operators will be able to get started with campaign development.

Key features and capabilities include:

  • Seamless list building: SpotOn Marketing Assist syncs with the SpotOn Restaurant POS to create email lists from the restaurant’s SpotOn Order and SpotOn Reserve systems.
  • Automated campaign development: After lists and objectives are established, SpotOn Marketing Assist creates campaigns that are tailored to these parameters. Operators can view, edit, or delete scheduled campaigns in their custom dashboards at any time. The solution then defines key monthly marketing events and schedules campaigns.
  • Image creation: Using AI, SpotOn Marketing Assist creates marketing campaign content and images based on restaurant images uploaded and/or stock photography.
  • Automated campaign launch: SpotOn Marketing Assist publishes campaigns across the restaurant’s email marketing and social media channels.
  • Data-driven insights: SpotOn Marketing Assist’s integration with SpotOn Restaurant POS and SpotOn Order allows users to directly tie campaigns to revenue.
