Adobe Analytics: Online Sales Increased 4.9% This Holiday Season

Online holiday sales reached $222.1 billion for the period from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31, 2023 — a 4.9% increase year over year, according to Adobe Analytics.

Despite some rumblings of an “elongated holiday season” sparked by a summer Prime Day sales event, Adobe Analytics found that Cyber Week results were exceptionally high. In fact, total sales for November reached $123.5 billion, with $38 billion of that total happening during Cyber Week.

Mobile played a key role in this ecommerce-driven holiday season. Smartphones surpassed desktops as consumers’ devices of choice, accounting for 51.1% of online sales — up from 47% in 2022.
